ripple by karlaHernandez ripple by karlaHernandez
I followed this hibiscus flower until it passed near a dripping faucet. Meanwhile, the flower started filling with water. The colors in the ripples are from the reflection of the sky and some red sheets hanging near by to dry.

This is one of the first photographs I took with my DSLR. I was attempting to practice using manual mode on my camera (which would've been easier had the flower not been floating around all over the place!). I wanted an aperture smaller than large (if that makes sense) but a fast enough shutter speed with low ISO.

I do wish the stigma and style appeared sharper but manually focusing on a moving object proved to be quite challenging!

thank you. I always used to love how the water slowly started filling the flowers and eventually made them sink. I took this pic just as the flower was floating near a dripping faucet.

hahaha I wasn't expecting to capture this image. I shot it in a somewhat large pool of water used to hand wash clothes at an "hacienda". Many flowers from a nearby plant had fallen in. I was trying to get the ripples in but the wind kept pushing the flower away.

I am glad you like it :)
